twitter logoCelebrities showing up on Twitter isn’t anything new, but they are doing it in bigger numbers, and in the course of this, we’re seeing more about them than we really need to.

The number of celebrities on the popular microblogging service Twitter seems to be growing by the day, and while there seems to be no firm reason for this trend, many believe it is because they receive a freedom of letting their fans see a little bit of their life in a controlled fashion.  However, what this is also doing is letting us see a bit more of a celeberities life than we need to when you see exchanges such as the following between the married acting couple of Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) and Demi Moore (@mrskutcher).

Not only are we privy to them being geeky by Tweeting to each other while they sit at the same table, but we also learn that Mr. Kutcher was washing his face. While funny, did we really need to know all of this?

Apparently it isn’t just the celberities that are enjoying being on Twitter, but people enjoy reading their adventures as it has given rise to web sites such as CelebrityTweet.com which is dedicated to collecting all of their messages on to one centralized site so you can read them at your leisure.

While it is nice to see some of the isolation removed from celebrities and see them interact with other Twitter users somewhat, you have to wonder if this might not also possibly make some people lose their interest in these folks when they see they really are just like everyone else.  I doubt this will happen, but it is an interesting gamble being taken by these people.

For the record, my fave celeberity to follow is Greg Grunberg (@greggrunberg) who plays Matt Parkman on Heroes.  He is always entertaining to read, even when he goes on endless about Ranch Dressing for some odd reason.
